Showroom Highlights Many Design Options

When designing a new kitchen or bathroom, it can be hard to visualize what types of cabinets or finishes would work best in your home. Holzman Interiors welcomes clients to their new showroom in Stamford, Conn., to see many options in Dura Supreme cabinetry.

Visitors to the showroom can see different styles of cabinets for kitchens, or vanities for bathrooms, as well as a wide selection of faucets, tiles, sinks and countertops. The showroom, located at 63 Harbor View Ave., in Stamford, features Tile America backsplash options and tiles.

To help keep your kitchen organized, Dura Supreme offers different drawers, such as ones with dividers for silverware or kitchen tools, or knife blocks within a drawer. A new option is a toe-kick drawer, designed for installation in the toe space of any straight cabinet, adding additional storage space. A touch-latch mechanism is included, so a simple touch of the toe will open the drawer.

The wide drawer can be used to store cutting boards, baking sheets or table linens for example. This type of solution can add more storage space without adding more square footage.

Weathered collection

Reminiscent of softly weathered wood, Dura Supreme’s Weathered collection of finishes looks as if it has been exposed to years of sun, wind and rain. Like an old drift fence, tumbled driftwood, or seasoned barn planks, each of the Weathered finishes portrays wood that has been exposed to the elements. The Weathered Finish collection includes an array of colors that evoke images of sun-bleached driftwood, charred campfires or time-worn dock planks.

Glass cabinets trends

Dura Supreme also has recently updated its cabinetry glass to target trends in kitchen and bath cabinetry. New updates include white and black back-painted glass options, leaded glass doors, and a new collection of mirror options for both framed and mullion cabinet doors.

The largest update to Dura Supreme’s glass program is the new mirror section. Choices now range from beveled mirror, antique mirror, gray mirror, bronze mirror and standard mirror.  Mirrors have been used as a decorative accent in home interiors for a long time, however, incorporating the reflective and airy look of mirror within cabinetry as an emerging trend.  Mirror used within cabinetry doors (behind mullions or simply in place of a glass door) is another wonderful way to add light within a kitchen.

Create A Home Office That Works For You And Your Style

Having a home office can be convenient for catching up on work at home, paying bills and staying on track with your calendar. However, you may think you don’t have room in your house for a home office. Don’t despair! We can help you carve out a corner and make it stylish at the same time!

The kitchen can be a place to create a nook where you can keep your laptop, organize bills and set up a family calendar. Dura Supreme offers kitchen office cabinetry, so a desk can be incorporated under cabinets, or in a separate area such as under a window or in the breakfast nook.

This home office is part of a kitchen design that includes a window seat and breakfast nook. Lots of natural light is an important part of this design, but make sure to include lighting around the desk for cloudy days or late night sessions. Photo by Dura Supreme Cabinetry.

This office spot has a window to let in the sunshine, with lights on either side for further illumination, and one wall for personal photos or inspirational quotes. The drawers and cabinets offer plenty of space for storage.

Items to consider when creating a home office:

  • Think about what kind of desk you like, whether you are fine with a compact space, or enjoy more room to spread out. Desks can be created with a slab of wood, a recycled door, or counter-top material.
  • A supportive, comfortable chair. Even if you don’t plan to spend a ton of time in this space, you want to be comfortable and have a chair that works for the space. You can get an ergonomic chair from an office store or pick a chair that works for the height of the desk.
  • Storage options. Use cabinetry or file cabinets to store documents and files. There are even specialized drawers for printers and keyboards, so you can just pull them out when you are using them and then push them back in when you are done, so they are stored out of the way. Other options include hanging items vertically, to create a wall with folders or floating shelves to store items. On the shelves, you can use baskets or small containers to store different items.

  • Open wall space or bulletin board for creating a calendar, saving notes or reminders and inspiration. There are plenty of examples on Pinterest of different ideas for family calendars, inspirational walls, or using vertical files to organize mail. If you work from home, you can keep track of appointments or create a goal wall. Some ideas include using a chalkboard wall to create lists, or a magnet wall to post items.
  • Lighting, outlets and charging station. Include good lighting over your desk, so even if it isn’t near a window you will have plenty of light. Make sure you have nearby outlets or charging station for your computer, a printer, cell phone, and any other items you may need to charge.

A home office can go in a guest room, bedroom or even a family room as well, with a corner desk or as part of a wall of shelves. In this example, designed by Holzman Interiors, the desk is tucked into the corner as part of an overall design with shelves and storage. Track lighting helps brighten the space, and floating shelves can hold family photos. The keyboard slides out and can be easily put away. Nearby bookshelves can be used for storage as well.

This family room, designed by Holzman Interiors, includes a corner desk and lots of shelving. A low-traffic area can be a great place to create a work space. Floating shelves offer vertical space to display or organize items. Track lighting keeps it bright in a potentially dark corner.

Other unique ideas include using a bar cart as a rolling desk to organize files, books and pens and pencils. This can be rolled out while in use and then rolled into a corner when not being used. There also are plenty of design ideas for turning a closet into an office space with shelves and a desk.
